I am so used to Liam being so tall, at just 16, that it is not until I see photos like this that it makes me appreciate just how lovely and tall he is and how he towers above everyone else!




Steven says these noodles were really delicious! So were the organic chicken burgers they found - so much so that they had one each day.

Much Wenlock Geocache

     After finding the windmill and the final Olympian geocache clue - we headed off to do another geocache Much Wenlock Windmill GC18HQ7. This took a bit of finding as the trees in the woods confused our GPS. We spent 30 minutes climbing around looking all manner of tree stumps and were about to give up- but went and admired the gorgeous views, had a think and tried again and we found it straight away! me here with the nice silver bird TB we left.

With this one found we then had the co-ordinates for the Much Wenlock Windmill Bonus cache GC18HRW - so off we trotted and found this one easily. I used my new gorilla pod tripod for this shot. It clings around trees etc but the camera would not sit right and hung downwards- hence our crouching on the floor position!

We then headed off to find the (The Olympian Trail GCVNZZ ) Olympian final cache back in town - again a bit of tricky climbing as we approached it from up above the cliff and had to scramble down. Gorilla pod tripod clung better to a tree this time but it was very dark in the woods so it looks as if this was a night time cache - it wasn't. Think this tripod will be really handy.

We were tired and hungry after all this exploration so treated ourselves to ice cream and chocolate from a shop in town before returning home.

The boys are back from Glastonbury

The boys are back from Glastonbury having had a wonderful time. They went with Keith & Isabelle from next door. They slept in a caravan & awning and they only had mud on the Friday - Saturday and Sunday were dry & sunny. The photo of Liam here is with one of his hero's, who works with Ricky Gervais - I don't know his name but apparently he was really nice & funny!

Following the Olympian trail around Much Wenlock

Thelma & I have spent a glorious afternoon following the Olympian trail around Much Wenlock. It is a beautiful little town full of history and lovely buildings. The modern day Olympic Games originated here in the 1850's organised by a local doctor - Dr William Penny Brookes. We combined the visit with geocaching and followed a series of 8 clues around the town which lead us to a final cache.

Much Wenlock is such a beautiful little town, that it was a real pleasure to explore it today ( luckily we did today as the main road into the town is going to be closed tomorrow for 6 weeks for essential maintenance so I think it may become a ghost town - all the retailers are certainly worried about their trade)
This beautiful old building used to be the town gaol - see the iron bars on the windows and the whipping post with attached shackles!

Here are some of the other beautiful buildings.

This is the railway station - now a private house. Much Wenlock had a railway very early on in the development of the railways - which used to bring visitors to the Olympic games - the wording was that 'they travelled at their own risk'! The railway is long gone now.

This is the row of Poplar trees that Dr Brookes planted around the Linden Field where the Olympic games took place - now a school field, but still used for many sporting activities -Liam took part in a cross country event there once and had an awful asthma attack - so we did not ever return.
Our geocache trail started off at the Priory ruin. It is owned by English Heritage so you have to pay to go in. We did not have time for that today but the little bit we could see of it over the walls looked very impressive and I will certainly come back for a proper visit to it. We ended up here at this windmill - minus its sails on the outskirts of town

out with the old...

and in with the new- is the title of this layout. Jessica's landlord wanted to increase their rent this year, so the girls felt justified in asking for a new sofa as the old one was so old and saggy. Here they are having childish fun on the old sofa whilst awaiting delivery of the new one.

This is an OK layout - did not work quite as well as I had hoped, as I have huge photos, large title and big chunk of journalling to fit in.

The paper is My Minds Eye : A 29th Street Market, (again both sides used - due to some clever gutting). Alphas- Heidi Grace - it all came from this months Scrapagogo kit. The 'out with the' etc. are Sue Dreamer stickers

Liam's prom...

and didn't he just look so gorgeous.

He hired a tuxedo (apparently this is required fashion wear for a prom these days) from Peter Posh - complete with Dicky bow, waistcoat and pocket hankie thing. Along with black patent shoes - he was just out of this world. It cost £48 to hire the outfit for one evening which we did not think was too bad. On this occasion I was glad I was the mother of a boy as the girls had really gone to town with ball gowns, tiaras, fancy hairstyle and limousines to arrive in - theirs must have been a very expensive do.

They were to meet outside the hotel at around 7 for photos etc and a general mingle then it started at 7.30, but Liam, who was having a lift with his friend did not get there till after 7.30 so we did not get any mingling pics of him! Luckily he rang later for some money so when we went back he and his girlfriend were about to have their official pics taken so I managed to snap a quick one of those. There was torrential downpour of rain all evening so I was not able to get any lovely photos of him in the garden in his suit so had to make do with taking a few in the hall - with hardly any natural light - so all in all I have rubbish photos of this wonderful occasion.

Lake Vyrnwy day trip layout

Now that my desk is clear again I can scrap in earnest and here is a layout I am quite pleased with. I really like red on layouts - I think I will use it more often. Liam broke his leg when he was 12 ( he just tripped over!) and this layout tells of our day trip out to Lake Vyrnwy, because he was getting so fed up of being stuck in the house.

Cardstock - blue Bazzill, PP, Paper Trunk, 1974: far out man ( I bought this at the gogogetaway) - I have used both sides - the red and the circles. American Crafts stickers for Lake Vrynwy (also from Gogogetaway) and Heidi Swapp Ghost letters. Font for journalling is baby boston.

There are 2 photos under the main one of us having our picnic by the lake - I had originally intended to put them on the layout but the colours did not work so I had to hide them. Could not manage to lift the flap and take a photo at the same time though!

This is number 63 in my 104 total target for the year.
