30th June photo - pamper & torture!

Only a photo of the pamper thankfully!!

Today I had the luxury of a pedicure - I just love having my feet massaged and them feeling so soft and smooth. After this I had to have my regular leg wax - not pleasant at all but totally necessary.

I have already posted a photo of my feet looking beautiful after my last pedicure - so had to come up with a different shot this time. I thought these 3 bottles of nail polish reflected in the wavy mirror would be nice and arty - until I realised that when you photograph mirrors - you end up in them as well. But the other photo of lots of bottles of polish lined up - did not work I am having to use this one above as POTD.

29th June photo - St Chads Church

Today's photo is one of Shrewsbury's landmarks - St Chads Church. It sits on Town Walls overlooking the Quarry ( our park). It is quite unusual in that it is one of only a handful of round churches built in the UK. It is still open as a place of worship and because of its shape and excellent acoustics it is used for quite often for concerts.

28th June photo - more flowers!

Sorry, sorry - I know more flowers !!!! - but these orange lillies are in full bloom in our garden now - so I really should capture them.

I love my lavender plant - but is decidedly puney this year - but I have managed to get this sweet little shot of its tiny flowers.

Thats it - no more flowers for a while now - I promise!

27th June photo - cherry cake

Its quite good having a house day every now & then because I usually have something to photograph! Todays photo is the cherry cake that I made yesterday. I have not made one of these for ages - lets hope it tastes as good as it looks.

26th June photo - mmmm....syrup!

After my exertions of yesterday - I am having a stay at home day today, so have done a nice batch of baking. I caught sight of these drops of syrup running down the side of the tin and thought 'yummy' - lovely to eat and great photo opportunity!

I think this top photo is going to be my photo of the day - but I have added a few more so show the lovely tin - which could have been a POTD - even without syrup running down the side as it is such an iconic item.

I have a sweet tooth so can never resist a spoonful of syrup when baking.

I tried to copy Karen's white background - but it is not right - too much shadow because I could not be bothered to go outside - so I have the shadow from the window - anyway lesson learnt - make sure there is no shadow.

25th June photo - Snowdon

Today T and I walked up Snowdon - along with half of the rest of the country!! It was so busy - I think the nice weather and the new cafe must have been a real draw.

T managed to take this nice photo of me at the summit - I don't know how she did it as the top was swarming with people - even though it looks like I was there by myself - I was not!! This is going to be my photo of the day. Unfortunately the same can not be said for the photo I took of her at the top - people everywhere - and I call myself a photographer!

It was very strange to be so high up that we were higher than helicopters & birds!

This is the new cafe - it is very nice and I think it blends in well to the environment.

The weather was glorious - nice and sunny - a bit too hot for walking up mountains really - but unfortunately there was a heat haze at the top so the views were not as good as we were expecting.

Like the summit we visited 2 weeks ago at Llandudno - there is a train to the summit. Half way up, I was beginning to wish that we had come up this way - my legs were so tired. However I am very pleased that I did it in 3 hours - last time I came with Liam in 2004, it took me 4 hours up and 3 1/2 down - this time we were down in 2 - so a great improvement in my fitness.

We even managed to fit in 3 geocaches whilst we were there - which were quite tricky to do with so many people about.

24th June photo - the boys have gone to Glastonbury!

The boys have gone off to Glastonbury tonight and the weather looks promising - so lets hope they won't be wallowing in mud this year.

The 'boys' are Steven, Liam & Keith - our next door neighbour. They are quite veterans of the festival now - but still get very excited about it. They are all smiling on this photo above - so this is my photo of the day.

They have been able to borrow this little caravan again this year - I reversed into it last year and damaged it! but they were able to fix it and I have had to promise to take extra care whilst it has been sitting in our drive.

23rd June - summer flowers

There are beautiful summer flowers every where at the moment so I thought that I would have a walk around my neighbourhood to see if I could find a photo of the day.

My neighbours are clearly very good gardners, as I now have lots to choose from again. I think it is likely to be the pink roses, as they remind me of a rose we used to have in the garden when I was a child. I can clearly remember making 'perfume' with the petals - how strange is it though, that I can't remember other things like what I need to buy from the shops or what I ran upstairs for!!

22nd June photo - open air art gallery - its a bit photo heavy this post - sorry!

Conscious that I needed to take photos of more interesting subjects this week - this afternoon I popped out to Llanfair Caereinion, where there is an open air art gallery, which I have passed a few times on my travels and kept in mind as a photo of the day.

Well I was not disappointed - there were wood and metal sculptures dotted throughout the woodland and they were really fun and interesting to look at. The sculptor Andy Hancock - creates them from logs of wood - carving away until the natural shape of the wood dictates the finished product.

Dilemma time again though - which one do I choose?? It will have to be one of these top few because they are in landscape orientation.

The artist was in residence so I watched him at work - he is a very talented guy!

I really like this green man - sticking his tongue out!

Apparently he has more work on show around Lake Vyrnwy - so perhaps later in the year I will go and visit there.
