30th October photo - Skip Bo

Today's photo is of the card game called Skip Bo which we love playing - the trouble is Jessica just thrashes me and wins each time. Even since she was little she really had the knack of the game and she is the unofficial crowned champion in our house - I do really try hard to beat her, but it never happens!! I think I might try and take a photo of her deep in thought deciding which card to play for another POTD.

We started playing when she was little to help her dyslexia, but it soon became apparent she does not have a problem with numbers or logic (whereas I clearly do!). The aim of the game is to clear the pile of unturned cards to your right - you don't know what is coming next in the pile, so it is often a game of chance or luck if you have a free throw a much sought after Skip Bo card or if you have to wait until a space for your number card arrives. We all hate it when Steven plays with us, as it can be a very fast moving game - but he slows it right down, deliberating on each and every move.

We wanted another set to keep at the caravan to keep us entertained there, but it took me ages to track down a pack on the internet. I think they may have stopped making it as someone wanted £25 for a used set on Ebay! Apologies for the busy background - but we always play the game sitting on this rug in the front room, because it is in front of the fire.
